Everything you need to know about Chambéry airport transfers

Chambéry Savoie Mont Blanc airport occupies a unique position in Alpine transfer logistics. While Geneva and Lyon handle the bulk of year-round international traffic, Chambéry comes alive during the winter ski season with direct charter flights from the United Kingdom, Scandinavia, the Netherlands, Belgium and Russia. Its critical advantage is proximity: Chambéry is the closest commercial airport to the Three Valleys ski area — the largest linked ski domain in the world. The airport is compact and efficient. A single terminal handles arrivals and departures, with processing times that are significantly faster than the larger Alpine gateways. On a typical Saturday changeover day, passengers clear baggage claim within twenty minutes of landing. This efficiency matters because Saturday transfers are time-sensitive — clients want to reach the resort, settle into their chalet, and be ready for the first morning on the slopes. Journey times from Chambéry to the Tarentaise resorts are remarkably competitive. Moûtiers — the gateway to the Three Valleys — is approximately 55 minutes by road via the A43 and N90. From Moûtiers, Méribel is a further 25 minutes up the valley road. Courchevel is 30 to 40 minutes, depending on which altitude level (1550, 1650, 1850 or Moriond). Val Thorens, at the head of the Belleville valley, is approximately 45 minutes from Moûtiers. Total door-to-door times: Chambéry to Méribel in under 1 hour 30 minutes, Chambéry to Courchevel 1850 in approximately 1 hour 40 minutes. The seasonal nature of Chambéry's operations creates specific transfer patterns. Charter flights arrive predominantly on Saturdays, with secondary peaks on Sundays. The morning arrival window — between 10:00 and 14:00 — is the busiest period, when multiple flights from London Gatwick, Manchester, Edinburgh, Stockholm, Oslo, Amsterdam and Brussels arrive within a few hours. Ground transfer demand spikes accordingly, and advance booking is essential during peak winter weeks (Christmas, New Year, February half-term, Easter). The road from Chambéry to the Tarentaise follows the A43 autoroute as far as Albertville, then the N90 through the Isère valley to Moûtiers. The A43 section is generally well-maintained and rarely affected by snow closures. The N90 between Albertville and Moûtiers can experience congestion on Saturday changeover days, particularly between 12:00 and 16:00 when returning guests are descending while arriving guests are ascending. An experienced chauffeur adjusts timing to navigate these flows. Beyond the Three Valleys, Chambéry also serves as a gateway to La Plagne and Les Arcs (via Aime and Bourg-Saint-Maurice), Paradiski, and the Beaufortain resorts. The Savoie Express road (D925) from Albertville also connects to resorts in the Beaufortain and Aravis ranges. Crew Transport & Security provides dedicated Chambéry airport transfers throughout the winter season. Our vehicles are winter-equipped as standard — winter tyres, snow chains, and drivers experienced in mountain conditions. The V-Class is the most popular choice for families with ski equipment, providing space for skis, boots, helmets and luggage for up to seven passengers. The service operates 24/7 during the winter season.
